Stop Buying Toys and Instead Take Your Family on Holiday

The festive season is securely behind us. But, in a few months’ time, the world is going to start preparing for festivities again. The shops will become crowded, and people will again spend oodles of money on presents.

Parents will inevitably be drawn to the toy stores that offer the latest and greatest bit and bobs, all at seemingly reasonable prices. In the moment, these toys may be enjoyed, but they will also be forgotten in a matter of weeks.

Wouldn’t it be better to spend that money on something the lasts? An experience that the family can collectively cherish? This is, of course, a family holiday.

5. A family holiday pays back more than toys

The memories of a family holiday last a lifetime. They do not break, and they do not get lost or discarded. The experiences and bonding that a family holiday provide are palpable, they are real, and they are obviously worth their price-tag.

The joy experienced in opening a toy is transient. Toys are, for all intents and purposes, disposable. A holiday, on the other hand, is an opportunity to talk to your kids, partake in activities with them and share and develop new interests with each other.

These holidays bring a family closer together. They do not distract children the way that toys do. Your kids will value and enjoy a holiday more and for a longer time than they will any store-bought toy.
