6. Nizhny Novgorod

Nizhny, affectionately called by his citizens, because of the multitude of factories and institutes in its area, working for the needs of military and nuclear industry, was from 1959 to 1991, the city banned to foreigners and tourists.It was the late 90’s when things totally changed, and today Nizhny became an inevitable destination for large cruise ships that bring tourists through the many Russian rivers.

7. Irkutsk

Russians have long since dispensed with the heritage of communism, but the streets in Irkutsk are still called like this – Karl Marx, Lenin, Socialist revolution, the October Revolution… Architecture is not just a typical socialist.The Emperor Nicholas I long ago adopted the habit deport to Irkutsk many artists and intellectuals whom he saw as a problem.They are responsible for the beautiful wooden artworks, which give the town a quaint charm of New Orleans… and all that in the middle of Siberia…

8. Red Square

Red Square is the heart of Moscow and the most common first destination of all the tourists. It is surrounded by the Church of St. Basil, Lenin’s Mausoleum and one of the walls of the Kremlin. Red Square for the first time in official documents appeared in the 15th century, when Ivan II ordered destruction of all wooden buildings surrounding the Kremlin and wanted to build in this area a huge market. Therefore, the first name of the square was Commercial Square.

9. Bolshoi Theatre

Construction of the Bolshoi Theatre was started 16.01.1825.godine when on the square of today’s theater appeared building with an arch which stood on the 8 arches and at the top was Apollo’s chariot.This theater is considered the largest after the Milan Theater “La Scala”.

10. Lake Baikal

Lake Baikal is located in southern Siberia.It has a crescent shape.It is the deepest in the world and the largest in Europe.With an area of 31,500 square kilometers, it represents 20 percent of the fresh water in the world (23,600 cubic meters) and it is a priceless natural resource, not only for Russia, but for the entire planet.
