Stop Buying Toys and Instead Take Your Family on Holiday

2. Some of the happiest memories people have come from holidays

A happiness anchor is a good memory which we draw on when needed. These memories are times when we remember being happy and carefree. This anchor is then held onto and drawn on when times are tough or otherwise less happy then days gone by. They give us hope and strength to deal with difficult situations.

In almost half of the people that have been tested, their happiness anchor comes from family holidays. Memories from these trips are the ones that they hold most dear. A third of these people even have incredibly clear pictures of these memories.

They can recall the time, place, people and how they were feeling. A quarter of these people also said that they actively held on to these happiness anchors when they were down or stressed.
